Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Municipal Zoning Officer. As a Municipal Zoning Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with zoning regulations and ordinances within our municipality. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on zoning regulations, land use plans, and environmental laws
- Liaison to the Zoning Hearing Board and works with the Building Code Official by reviewing building permit applications for compliance with the Zoning Code.
- Advises the Planning Commission on Township zoning issues, meets with residents to evaluate building projects for compliance with the Zoning and Land Development Codes, processes applications to the Zoning Hearing Board, and inspects and issues Notices of Violation for zoning offenses.
- Provide guidance and assistance to property owners regarding zoning requirements and submitting building and zoning applications
- Utilize software such as SmartGov and GIS for permit tracking and data analysis purposes
- Prepare reports and presentations on zoning issues for municipal meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
-Minimum 5 years experience with the PA Municipalities Planning Code, strong knowledge of zoning regulations, land use planning principles, and environmental laws required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Possess a high degree of independent judgement and the ability to work effectively with elected officials, co-workers and the public.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Clean driving record, background check and drug screening
Applicant must be willing to attend evening meetings as needed for performance of duties. This is a salaried position and regular business hours are Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm.
