Role description:

As a Traffic Design Manager, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver design projects in Louisiana and throughout the Southeast Region. The role will require you to serve as the Engineer of Record for construction plans for the installation of traffic signals, permanent signing, pavement markings, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). You will routinely engage and strengthen relationships with clients through project delivery and marketing activities. The role includes project management responsibilities, and you will be given the opportunity to participate in Arcadis’ internal project management training and certification program. 

You must be in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA but will have the ability to work remotely or in office (based on preference). You will be required to attend internal and external client meetings in person as needed. 

Role accountabilities:

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) in the preparation of construction plans for traffic signals, permanent signing, pavement markings, and ITS.
• Project management including monitoring and planning of project finances, invoicing, quality control, and design delivery. 
• Responsible for development of fiber design, network architecture and conducting link-loss budgets for large scale ITS projects across the Southeast.
• Responsible for the development of signal plans including signal design layout, pole loading details, pole height calculations and clearance calculations.
• Responsible for design of permanent signing including sign layout, panel design. Apply standard drawings and details and coordinate with structural engineers in determining sign support types and design. 
• Coordinate and interface with clients to discuss technical elements of the project and present results.
• Providing training and guidance to junior engineers and interns in areas of technical proficiency and consultancy

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• 10 or more years of relevant work experience post degree
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Louisiana Professional Engineering (PE) license

Preferred Skills and Proficiencies:

• Proficient in the design of traffic signals, permanent signing, pavement markings, and ITS.
• Relevant design experience in Louisiana. 
• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer
• Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail is critical in the success of this position.
• Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.

The salary range for this position is $97600 - $146400.
