Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Summary

    This position is responsible to ensure interpretation from Japanese to English and English to Japanese; both written and verbal. The translator may assume additional taskings, but the primary purpose is to ensure streamlined communications between AEIL American and Japanese APS members.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Follow General Administration Company, Departmental, and Section Level Hoshin Kanri and targets.
    • Responsible for providing technical interpretation from Japanese to English and English to Japanese in the manufacturing process, during routine and visitor meetings.
    • Responsible for interpreting for customers, suppliers, and/or Engineers.
    • Maintain positive employee relations with TM's, Management, and external affiliates/entities.
    • Responsibilities will include Aisin Technical Academy Language training preparations.
    • Ensure Comunications throughout the section; also to external sections (Ex: Manufacturing, Logistics, etc).
    • Assist with accurate translations for Exempt, Non-Exempt, and Japanese Coordinators (APS) employees'; as required.
    • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate HR, Safety, and Security standards.
    • Will perform all other reasonably related tasks within the Company as required by Management.
    • May support training department; including orientations, Aisin Universitiy, teaching training classes, along with any other task required.

    Qualifications, Education & Experience required

    • Fluent Japanese and English translation abilities required (Verbal and Written); Judgement from Japanese APS members.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Automotive industry experience preferred.

    Organization (and outside) relationships

    • AISIN corporate headquarters members.
    • All other AEIL departments.
    • All other various outside vendors, local community.
    • Local, State, and federal agencies.

    Work Environment.

    • Open office area with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional divisions, departments, and sections. Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment's notice when the situation requires.
    • Some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents and occasional lifting.
    • Minimal exposure ot hazardous machinery and/or conditions that could result in injury up to and including a fatality if safety measures are not followed and adhered to.
    • Minimal exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure similar to general office work, with a few minimal exceptions. There are areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses.
