Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. JOB SUMMARY
Administers routine customer service function; provides community relations outreach and support to MST customers and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides transit information via phone, internet, person-to-person, TDD Machine and relay calls. Sells bus passes/ticket books, processes balances and audits credit card and cash transactions. Processes the incoming and outgoing mail and delivery of interoffice mail. Provides bi-lingual (Spanish/English) translation services for incoming customer service calls, public hearings, MST board meetings, and others as needed. Provides bi-lingual (Spanish/English) translation service on request for other departments with correspondence or public information items. Translates (Spanish/English) MST public information or media information. Receives and maintains records on lost and found items. Records customer compliments and complaints and routes them to the appropriate MST staff member. Processes Courtesy Cards for disabled customers and seniors. Provides information to customers about submitting RIDES applications. Provides staffing at special events and community outreach programs on evenings and weekends, as needed. Provides assistance with processing and printing MST-issued identification cards for mobility programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE
Transit service, fares, routes, and schedules; MST policies and procedures; safety procedures; office practices and procedures; proper telephone etiquette; proper grammar.
SKILLS
Interpersonal communications; effectively communicating in situations requiring tact and poise; intermediate computer applications; ability to perform all required duties of CSR; bilingual oral and written English/Spanish required.
ABILITY
Establish and maintain quality standards; proofread; write clearly and concisely; use office programs (Word, Excel, Access) and keyboard at 40 words per minute; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and a minimum of two years customer service experience and/or any combination of education and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have had previous experience in an office environment, office practices, procedures; Cash handling experience. May occasionally work extended hours or hours outside of the regular schedule to include some weekends and holidays. Good driving record; possess valid California driver's license at the time of application; In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, must be prepared to offer documents to support employment eligibility. Proof of Covid vaccination is required.
