Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Project Manager to join our Transportation Electrification group in Brea, CA. The successful candidate will lead, manage and coordinate the overall delivery of our services to make our clients successful. Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Promoting a safety-first culture.
Leading a team with a service-oriented mindset.
Assisting in the development of a long-term strategic plan for the growth and sustainability of the business.
Management and development of client relationships.
Selling Burns & McDonnell’s services and expanding clientele through conferences and client events.
Manage and oversee all aspects of multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion including overall safety, siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, and closeout.
Establish project teams and coordinate activities.
Leading response to requests for proposals.
Management of project financial performance.
Management of internal and external project communication.
Application of technical project management skills.
Identifying project opportunities early and facilitate go/no-go decisions in cooperation the with office and practice leadership.
Developing relationships with other consultants and contractors to build possible teaming arrangements for large pursuits.
Leading contract and negotiations process as well as lead internal and external risk reviews. Consult with legal department as required.
Attending site visits and client meetings. Ability to travel 20% of the time.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.
Minimum 7 years related experience, including 3 or more years managing EV and Electrification infrastructure projects and teams.
Experience with organizational P&L is preferred.
Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.
PE registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
Self-starter with entrepreneur and creative mindset and able to work with client to problem-solve
Experience with negotiation and contracting is desired.
Demonstrated results in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Must be capable of devising innovative approaches to problems encountered.
Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
EPC Project experience preferred.
