The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineer Manager to serve as our Division6 Project Team Lead.
In this role, you will:
- Design and review designs and drafting of erosion control, hydraulic, pavement marking, and roadway plans from inception through to final construction plans in accordance with NCDOT policy manuals, standards, and specifications.
- Coordinate, oversee, and review plans prepared by private engineering firms.
- Schedule assigned projects within the unit and coordinate schedules with other units, government agencies, private engineering firms, and public and private officials to ensure completion of plans according to the State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) or Division Let schedule.
- Create/assist with agreements with municipalities and other agencies.
- Manage supervisory and administrative functions to support drafting of roadway plans and completion of environmental documents.
What You Bring
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in project development.
- Experience planning, developing, designing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects, independently or with minimal supervision.
- Experience interpreting and communicating verbally and in writing details of plans, project documents, policies and procedures to convey information to consultants, department staff, and others.
- Experience making recommendations and decisions for simple or complex project development based on reviewing plans for completeness, compliance with engineering principles, standards, and design needs.
- Experience supervising, motivating, counseling, and training other engineers and technicians.
- Experience leading and maintaining positive working relationships with environmental agencies, public officials, consultants, contractors, and staff, in order to find acceptable solutions to infrastructure project problems.
- Management experience supervising 3 permanent employees, contractors, and/or consultants.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering, and
- 6 years progressive engineering experience, and
- 4 years of supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Note
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
