Tumor Registrar identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients using tumor registry systems and software. Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.       LOCATION: Hawthorne Middle School

      ADDITIONAL INFO: Forty hours per week.

      DAYS: Nine month employment

      SALARY SCHEDULE: Rate of pay will be $17.02 per hour

      START DATE: As soon as possible

      JOB SUMMARY: The principal function is to build and maintain the master schedule and the computerized student accounting system including student schedules,
      grades and transcripts. The position requires strong computer skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as the ability to think and reason
      in a logical sequence and perform work accurately with numerous and frequent interruptions. The work is performed under the supervision of a school
      Principal or Assistant Principal. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.

      JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must have knowledge of:

      • Operation of standard and specialized office equipment including a personal computer and job related software;
      • English grammar and punctuation;
      • Current office practices and procedures;
      • Basic mathematical computations and statistical reporting.

      Ability to:

      • Perform the processes and procedures involved with stsudent records, transcripts and registration;
      • Organize data collected to construct the master schedule, review scheduling printouts and make adjustments as needed;
      • Learn, utilize and serve as system administrator of the student information system;
      • Prepare and maintain accurate student records;
      • Follow written and oral instructions;
      • Maintain records efficiently and accurately and to prepare clear and concise reports;
      • Use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions
      • Perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set task priorities;
      • Maintain office, school, and individual conficentiality.

      ACCEPTABLE TRAINING: High school diploma or GED equivalency, preferably supplemented with at least two years of college; and two years of administrative and
      computer experience, with some experience in scheduling. Demonstrated knowledge and use of various computer software programs or any
      equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
