Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Health Insurance Underwriter to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This pivotal role demands a comprehensive understanding of financial analysis and risk assessment in the health insurance domain. You will significantly influence the underwriting process and contribute to effective financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate renewal quotes for current clients utilizing historical data and analytics, as well as create prospect quotes for new clientele.
• Systematically archive all approved correspondence and maintain organized records for future reference.
• Innovate and develop tools aimed at optimizing the underwriting workflow.
• Assist the Underwriting Director in efficiently managing the Underwriting team’s workload.
• Aid in enhancing underwriting knowledge among Underwriters and Associate Underwriters.
• Collaborate with the Account Management team to prioritize tasks and set deadlines effectively.
• Cultivate positive and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage with external partners to ensure competitive and fair rates for both renewal and prospect quotes.
  
  

Required Skills

• Extensive experience in underwriting special risk, intercollegiate athletics, and group health insurance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities, particularly in conveying complex ideas succinctly.
• Self-driven with adept problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for effective task execution.
  
  

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in health insurance underwriting and special risk sectors, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
