Position Summary:
The primary job function of the Commercial Underwriter II (Commercial Multi-Peril) is to support Commercial CMP by analyzing commercial lines of business and evaluating the degree of risk for medium sized to large accounts. Requires strong teamwork, collaboration, customer service and problem solving skills, and is results oriented.
Essential Job Functions:
-Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal accounts within the established underwriting guidelines. Handle and make rapid decisions and problem solving on commercial risks.
-Reviews and evaluates property inspections and makes the necessary recommendations for risk improvement. Review property valuation reports, fire brush reports and other related underwriting reports to determine acceptability and needs to modify account.
-Reviews and processes endorsements and cancellations within limits of authority and according to established guidelines.
-Accompanies Marketing and meet with existing and potential agents to develop relationships and generate additional business.
-Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the insurance needs of customers.
-Evaluates and processes reinsurance placements.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• AU, AINS and/or CPCU desired
Experience:
• 2-4 years of Underwriting experience
• Or equivalent combination of education/experience
