As a member of the IT Systems Administration team, this individual provides the technical knowledge and support required to maintain the diverse technology infrastructure maintained by Innovation & Performance for all departments in City government.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility notice regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show three (3) years of full-time systems administration experience which includes: performing systems maintenance, implementation and support. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Administration, or a related field. The application must clearly show one or more pertinent certifications (CompTIA Server , CompTIA Security , Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE), Azure Administration Associate, VMWare Certified Professional) obtained within the past 5 years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
- EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is seven (7) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).

- Provides support and maintenance city-wide for servers running various operating systems, both on-premise and cloud-based; researches and tests new software products as they relate to server technology.
- Provides escalated support in the installation, configuration, testing and support of client computer hardware, software (OS and Application), printers, communication devices, graphics, and storage peripherals.
- Recommends purchase and/or modification to existing computers and peripherals, network software, and operating systems.
- Plans, implements, and supports data transfer concepts with internal and external entities.
- Maintains Active Directory and Group Policy infrastructure, particularly Azure Active Directory.
- Designs, develops, and maintains the City’s disaster recovery co-location facility.
- Oversees and validates the City’s backup and recovery model to maximize retention based on departmental policy.
- Supports the City’s IT infrastructure (i.e. physical server hosts, storage infrastructure, various interconnect technologies, and cloud-based resource implementations).
- Participates in installation and physical maintenance of hardware systems.
- Participates in project-oriented tasks, including team-scale project leadership.
- Acts as a liaison with consultants, vendors, outside agencies, City Departments, etc., on assigned projects.
- Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policies, including union agreements, to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
- Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the resources under jurisdiction toward the effective and efficient attainment of organizational and program goals, including public service and employee safety.
- Ensures compliance with vendor licensing laws and regulations related to software applications.
- Ensures adherence to established departmental computer system and network standards, policies and procedures.
- Assists in preparing bidding and purchase specifications.
- Maintains records both manually and by computer, and prepares accurate reports, correspondence, etc.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
