Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The working environment you can expect:
    This position is located at the DMV’s main office located inside the University Center at 4001 Ingra Street, Suite 101, in Anchorage. The incumbent will be assigned a team of reps/office(s) that they are responsible for. They will collaborate daily with their team of office managers to ensure that assigned admin duties and the needs of the office(s) are met.

    • Work Independently – Demonstrate independence by using strong decision-making skills and solving complex problems. Demonstrate ability to manage time efficiently in order to complete work in a timely manner and meet conflicting deadlines.
    • Management – Ability and experience directing the work of others. Ability and experience auditing, correcting and reconciling the work of others. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Possess knowledge of statutes, regulations or policies and how to interpret them.

    Minimum Qualifications

    One year of experience leading the work of employees performing motor vehicle licensing, titling, registration, and compliance functions. This experience is met by service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
    OR
    One year of experience supervising employees who perform cash-handling and provide services to customers; review and act on legal documents for transactions such as business incorporation, real property transfer, or tax filing; provide operator training for vehicles, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, or aircraft; or provide inspection and enforcement of regulations covering heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, vessels, or aircraft. The cash-handling and customer service experience includes such work as retail sales supervisor, travel office supervisor, restaurant manager, bank teller supervisor, and so on.
    OR
    Two years of experience performing advanced-level motor vehicle licensing, titling, registration, and compliance functions that included conducting practical skill testing of applicants for non-commercial, motorcycle, or commercial driver licenses. This experience is met by service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
    OR
    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.

    In this position the incumbent may be required to work at either the Anchorage, Eagle River or Palmer office and may require occasional travel to offices outside of these areas.
