Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. Qualifications:- Must be a team player who is willing to assist with phone calls, collecting payments, assisting in rooms and surgery, and more
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
- Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
- Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
- Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
- Ability to properly set up and process laboratory samples and tests
- Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
- Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
- Assisting DVMs during procedures by restraining animals, conducting tests, monitoring vitals, and administering medications
- Maintaining medical records and communicating with clients on their pets' medical procedures, including the next steps
- Maintaining the treatment room, including maintaining equipment such as anesthetic machines/ monitors, X-ray machines, dental, etc.
- Collecting blood and other samples for testing, placing catheters, providing sedation for diagnostic procedures
