  • Summary

    The Vice President of Community Impact serves as the visionary leader for the Community Impact Department in the implementation and expansion of direct service programs to our neighbors facing food insecurity. These programs are run successfully in collaboration with our network of community partners. This position provides oversight of our child and senior feeding programs, agency partnerships, health and nutrition, Urban Farm, and SNAP outreach. Strong leadership of this department is integral in Golden Harvest Food Bank's efforts to alleviate hunger in our 25-county service area by working with internal and external stakeholders, including a network of 350 Partner Agencies and community leaders.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Mission Advancement & Leadership

    • Assures that all Community Impact projects are aligned with the mission and strategic plan.
    • Collaborates with stakeholders, internal and external, in understanding the needs of our clients.
    • Ensures nutrition support and poverty alleviation strategies are at the forefront of all assigned projects.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and execute the organizational strategic plan.
    • Works with Development regarding grant applications and partnership accountability.
    • Gathers, analyze, and report financial and program data in collaboration with the Finance department.
    • Works in conjunction with the Operations department, collaborating on decisions and deliverables with the Vice President of Operations daily, supporting the procurement and distribution of our sites
    • Nurtures strong connections with team members and other departments as we cultivate external relationships throughout our service area.
    • Represents the Food Bank at Feeding America conferences and other relevant community events.

    Build and Maintain Network Capacity

    • Seeks opportunities for collaboration with civic leaders, other non-profits, private funders, and school systems to expand the food bank's reach to neighbors that are facing food insecurity.
    • Implement plans to alleviate food insecurity throughout the Food Bank
    • Leads the department in creating and maintaining operating and training manuals, policies and procedures, and professional presentation of communication materials in collaboration with our marketing department.
    • Work with the CI team to conduct workshops and other training forums for our community partners to address common deficiencies, encourage growth and share best practices.
    • Develop and implement strategies to promote and enhance the delivery of nutrition education and cooking tips for clients' healthy eating.
    • Continuously works to build partnerships throughout the service area as well as the SNAP outreach programs to support neighbors.
    • Ensures that all community partners comply with Feeding America, state/federal/local operating guidelines, and regulations.
    • Establishes standards and leads the CI team in site visits and monitoring; ensures all community partners are properly trained in food safety, civil rights, required documentation, etc.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Leads the Community Impact department with direct supervision of department managers (3) and our Neighbor Advocate. Each department manager had supervisory responsibilities for their sector and direct reports. The VP of Community Impact may provide leadership and guidance to our community partners and volunteers.


    Skills & Competencies

    To perform the job successfully, an individual will demonstrate teamwork, commitment, written and verbal communication and organizational skills. The Vice President of Community Impact must be able be results-oriented. Must be sensitive to diverse populations and have a strong moral compass with ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. The ideal candidate must possess successful experience in strategy and operational implementation of hunger fighting or social service programming.

    • Available to travel throughout service area, some overnight travel for meetings and special events


    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in the field of Public Administration, Human Services or related.
    • Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Nonprofit experience preferred, 5 years


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • Must have valid driver's license
    • Maintain ServSafe certification
