Vice President of Accounting jobs in Covington, KY

The Vice President of Accounting will report to the CFO and be responsible for the oversight of all Accounting functions for the operating company and real estate investment properties. The role will provide administration of the accounting function, ensure effective financial controls and compliance and support Senior Management, Business Unit Leaders and Asset Management in meeting operating business and investment asset objectives. This support is provided principally in the following ways: reporting, analysis and decision support as needed by senior management, business unit leaders, and asset management; the establishment and maintenance of Corporate Guidelines to provide high-quality, timely and accurate financial information. Types of information to be provided include: internal monthly reporting, external quarterly reporting, tax returns, K-1s, tax estimates and budget and cash flow reporting; coordination of annual financial reporting with the outside CPA firm; provide information for lenders, capital partners, bonding and insurance companies. This position provides leadership and management for the Accounting team. Responsibilities include fostering a team environment; and mentoring and developing staff.

Skills & Responsibilities:

Decision and Strategy Support:

• Serve as the lead resource to CFO and CEO(s) on accounting services, providing and suggesting appropriate data and guidance
• Coordinate and participate in the strategic and annual planning process of the business units
• Coordinate cash forecasting and consolidations
• Develop models to analyze performance of prospective and historical performance of business unit operations

Management of the Accounting Operations:

• Manage and oversee the Accounting systems that capture, authorize, record, and report financial transactions
• Manage and oversee Accounting processes to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all accounting and financial reporting
• Monitor and analyze the cash position of the Operating Company
• Analyze and report on tax matters
• Continuously improve the financial and accounting systems to promote effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness and integrity

Reporting Process:

• Internal financial reporting periodic financial statements and reports
• External financial reporting - reviewed and audited financial statements
• Tax Returns annual filing and quarterly estimates
• Develop and present cash forecasts to CFO

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• CPA preferred
• MBA a plus
• Minimum of 8 years experience in Accounting, with a minimum of 5 years working with a Construction firm.
• Minimum of 5 years experience managing an accounting department
• Experience with business performance measurement and analysis
• Experience with financial modeling and forecasting
