JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Media and Webcast Specialist (Networking Specialist) is a key member of the EdTech Services Engagement and Readiness team, tasked with managing, maintaining, and optimizing live and recorded webcasts, as well as facilitating online/hybrid meeting services for the 171 school districts across Kentucky and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) employees.
Responsibilities:
· Content Management: Oversee live and recorded educational video content distribution across platforms, including YouTube, Microsoft Teams, and Facebook.
· Recording and Production: Record and publish webcast events from remote and studio locations; edit, archive, and produce media projects to meet KDE’s video and webcasting needs.
· Webcast Coordination: Assist in setting up and coordinating live webcasts and online events for KDE.
· Technical Support: Support multiple platforms and access methods for KDE staff, Kentucky K-12 staff, and students; ensure the technical functionality of webcast technologies.
· Network Connectivity: Troubleshoot and maintain VPN connectivity and local network setups for off-site video/audio services.
· Technology Innovation: Stay updated on new and emerging technologies to improve existing services and explore new, innovative solutions.
· Documentation and Reporting: Use tracking tools to record work efforts in line with current processes. Maintain accurate documentation for efficient reporting.
· On-Call Duty: Periodically available outside normal business hours as defined by the client manager or organizational on-call policy to ensure uninterrupted operation of supported systems.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Networking, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in webcast management, networking, or media production in a professional setting.
Technical Skills
· Proficiency with live streaming and webcast platforms (YouTube, Microsoft Teams, Facebook).
· Experience with video recording, editing, and publishing software.
· Strong understanding of VPN connectivity, local network troubleshooting, and network security principles.
· Familiarity with hybrid/remote meeting facilitation technologies.
Soft Skills
· Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with diverse teams and audiences.
· Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to new technology adaptation.
