  • WHAT YOU WILL DO

    onX is seeking a Videographer/Editor with a passion for the outdoors to create, concept, shoot, and edit videos from ideation to completion to support our video advertising campaigns across our product offerings. This position requires someone highly skilled in videography, editing, and photography (as needed), as well as shooting and editing cutting-edge short-form narrative advertisements and product-focused paid advertising pieces. Success in the role will require an individual with strong camera operation skills, an eye for principal cinematography, storytelling mastery, and editing capabilities. This individual will be able to work concurrently on large-scale projects and act quickly against day-to-day execution video pieces. You will be a part of our creative team that develops visual and written content for onX.This is a great opportunity to shape a new approach to how we communicate to our constituents through video content and be a part of a dynamic growing company. This role will report to the head of video production.

    As an onX Videographer/Editor, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like: 

    • Create high-quality, compelling, and impactful video assets that drive engagement and conversion across web, social, and video
    • Work closely with the content/creative team and marketing teams to fulfill the video needs of each of our products (Backcountry, Hunt, Offroad, Fish)
    • End to End video production; both shooting new and editing already-shot footage
    • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure the video deliverables support their goals
    • Help maintain an organized library of photo/video assets for use across the company
    • Edit our content to tell a compelling on-brand narrative
    • Maintain our visual standards for video and still photos. Experiment with shooting, lighting, and retouching to help us continue to develop and improve our style.
    • Develop your own concepts to pitch to the marketing and creative teams
    • Be able to function self-sufficiently out in the field (direct, cast, and manage all technical functions, including sound in the field)
    • Create a unique look and feel for each campaign and convey the creative vision in development, and know what tools and techniques you need to execute that vision (i.e.,  lens choices, lighting requirements, gimbals, drone movements, post-production effects, the ability to describe the pacing and tone you want for the video and shoot accordingly, etc.)
    • Direct all aspects of production (pre-production, production, and post)
    • Ability to produce high-fidelity content on a variable budget 
    • Be able to capture high-quality footage on the fly
    • Ability to look ahead to future projects and content needs to capture pick-up shots/broll for future use and considerations
    • Strong background in aerial cinematography

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING

    • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Arts, Photography, or Journalism, or equivalent experience. 
    • Five (5) years minimum of experience developing, shooting and editing experience is required.
    • Portfolio of Work: This position requires a strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to create effective videos and content series for both brand awareness as well as direct marketing (activation) needs; work presented clearly details your role and contribution to the projects
    • Adobe Proficiency: Experience and proficiency in the Adobe CC Suite (Premiere and After Effects)
    • Strong Relationship Management Skills: The videographer/editor will work with a wide variety of internal teams and creative staff to ensure high-quality work
    • Collaborative Spirit: You love to work with strategists and writers to create highly engaging and effective visuals
    • Ability to move camera gear and personal gear for a variety of outdoor settings and activity types
    • Must be available for travel up to 50% of the time

    • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX. 

    ADDED BONUSES

    Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

    • Experienced outdoor recreationalist (hunting, fishing, backcountry skiing, offroading, mountain biking, climbing)
    • Certified drone operator FFA Part 107
    • Prior experience with a DAM system is a plus.

    • Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time, this is a great option.
    • Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure. 
      • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA. 
    • Connection Hubs: onX’s Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.

    HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED

    onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $80,000 to $95,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
