Visitor Research Analyst - Museum evaluates and researches visitor experiences, learning, exhibition, program etc. Utilizes findings to inform appropriate exhibit and improve museum program development. Prepares visitors reports and technical papers to suggest enhanced innovative learning environments for museum. Being a Visitor Research Analyst - Museum requires a master's degree of social science or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or a manager. The Visitor Research Analyst - Museum gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Work days are 2 to 3 days a week, Monday through Sunday, with occasional additional days, through November 31, 2024
Hours are 9:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. On occasion dates might change. Some days on-call. We will possibly need front desk help for museum events that happen once a month during the weekend.
Greet all visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
Provide welcome and orientation to all visitors.
Open and close the admissions/museum store register.
Sell admission tickets.
Assist visitors with museum store sales.
Give an overview of the Fourth Ward School Museum and Virginia City.
Balance cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
Engage and educate the public about the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum and the benefits of membership.
Open, close and secure the museum building.
Other duties as assigned (Light clerical work and light cleaning).
Qualifications
Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with a diverse public.
Ability to accurately use/balance cash register for both admissions ticket sales and museum store sales.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Highly self-motivated.
Solid organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Love of history and museums.
