The Position
Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. This position is located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in Reno. The Rehabilitation Supervisor will plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of reporting staff, ensuring that they are compliant with Federal and State responsibilities in the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program and that individual performance measures are achieved.
In addition, the Rehabilitation Supervisor completes case reviews; directs coverage of caseloads; reviews expenditures for compliance with fiscal policy and performs fiscal management functions to prevent deficit spending; assists in the resolution of more difficult casework; reviews and analyzes case records and reports to determine quality, quantity and timeliness of work production; investigates and mediates client complaints; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships in the professional business community; and is responsible for all aspects of supervision including discipline, training and day-to-day oversight of employees. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited university in vocational rehabilitation counseling, health or social sciences, business administration, education, or closely related field, and one year of advanced journey level professional experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling which included providing training and/or coordinating the work of professional vocational rehabilitation staff; interpreting and applying established laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to the assigned program; and identifying problems, evaluating solutions and recommending action plans for improvement; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in vocational rehabilitation counseling, health or social sciences, business administration, education, or closely related field and two years of advanced journey level professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the Bachelor's degree level as described above.
