For more than 60 years our warehouse facility has cleaned seed for the surrounding area and throughout Oregon.
We're currently looking for a skilled leader to take over the management of our seed warehouse facility for when our current Facility Manager retires later this year. This role involves efficiently maintaining, operating, and managing the warehouse while also guiding the warehouse team strategically. The ideal candidate should possess a basic knowledge of local seed and grain crops along with general agricultural knowledge. Candidates with Spanish language skills are preferred.
The Facility Manager provides technical direction and leadership to the Warehouse Team. This position also ensures that the facilities, layout and machinery used to clean seed runs at its maximum efficiency and output.
Below are some of the Facility Manager’s job responsibilities and essential requirements:
· Basic knowledge of local seed and grain crops along with general agricultural knowledge.
· Organize product order to be cleaned and ensure all daily production meets product specifications and production schedules to achieve the highest possible quality of seed and economical operation.
· Coordinate quality testing of cleaned products with local and OSU seed laboratories.
· Develop production schedules in coordination with General Manager, contracted seed companies and growers.
· Participate in the general warehouse building inspection and regulatory inspections.
· Prepare and maintain an accurate receiving, shipping, and inventory level. Inventory reports may be daily, weekly, or monthly.
· Maintain adequate records for invoicing of services and products by central office.
· Supervise all phases of shipping and/or warehouse staff including schedules, coaching, loading operations, discipline, and material handling activities.
· Drive forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
· Conduct hiring and training process for full time and seasonal employees.
· Be proficient in standard computer applications including Excel and Word.
· Have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with problem solving / trouble shooting skills.
· Schedule an annual “turn around” of major machinery prior to harvest.
· Ensure that there exists within the warehouse team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations.
· Schedule, purchase and maintain minimum supply of pallets, bags and supplies.
· Lead people by actively practicing and demonstrating good principles and values.
To accomplish this task, the Facility Manager must be skilled at empowering, motivating and developing the capabilities of warehouse personnel.
Physical Effort:
· Must have the physical strength and stamina for constant standing and walking during the shift.
· Must be able to work flexible hours and work overtime as needed.
· Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
