Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • Seeking a Treatment Plant Operator to join our Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant team. Looking for a team player with an excellent work ethic and adaptability. Ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the willingness to work with the team to fulfill the goals of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Maintain knowledge of the principles and practices applied to the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant. 
    • Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring water treatment plant processes and maintaining proper plant balance to include adjusting chemical feeds.    
    • Complete multiple plant inspections, collect samples, and troubleshoot processes and equipment.
    • Assist with offloading bulk chemical deliveries.     
    • Utilize various types of machinery and equipment including SCADA, forklift, lab, and general office equipment.  
    • Job requires working weekends, holidays, nights, and rotating shifts. 

    Successful candidates should have:

    • High School diploma or GED, plus specialized school and/or training in a specific area relatable to this position.
    • Valid North Carolina (NC) Driver’s License.
    • NC Class C Surface Water Operator’s Certification or the ability to acquire it within 6 months of employment. 
    • One year of experience working in a water treatment facility or prior knowledge, skills and abilities that may be transferrable. 
    • Good working knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, and bacteriology. 
    • Ability to maintain requirements of a safety sensitive position (cleared to wear a full-face respirator, complete HAZWOPER training, etc.); and meet the physical requirements that include frequently exerting up to 50 pounds and walking/standing often.
