POSITION SUMMARY :

The purpose of this position is to maintain and operate the water technical systems and monitor and troubleshoot processes to ensure optimum plant growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Inspect greenhouse irrigation system to ensure plants are being fed properly and repair leaks within greenhouse irrigation system.
• Install, Maintain, modify, and repair routine to moderately complex piping systems of PVC piping, identifies types of piping, fittings, basic valves, and makes minor modifications to existing piping system.
• Follow plans for repair and maintain and operate facility water technical systems, including boiler heating and cooling system.
• Ensure proper mixing and nutrient concentration levels of all irrigation tanks and reservoirs.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace water pumps and motors.
• Monitor water softener tanks.
• Perform preventive maintenance on cooling system during summer months.
• Prepare solution to facilitate the cleaning of the irrigation lines.
• Ensure proper reading and calibration of pH and EC sensors. Maintain records of water usage throughout the water system to ensure optimal water usage, etc.
• Performs daily preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance on equipment.
• Operate and maintain roofing washing equipment when necessary.
• Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.

Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
• May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of Water Technician Supervisor in their absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS :

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 years of greenhouse experience with large-scale operations growth.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS :

• Associate degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and / or experience.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and problem solve effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and plumbing schematics.
• Ability to work from heights making repairs to LED cooling system and HPS lighting system.
• Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 75 lbs. (150 lbs. with assistance) with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product.
• Ability to meet physical demands including reaching, climbing, bending, walking, standing, and performing repetitive work.
• Comfortable working in conditions that include height, heat, and high intensity lighting.
• Knowledge of plumbing, irrigation, and filtration systems.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools, etc.
