Waste Water Treatment Technician jobs in Illinois

The City of Chrisman is seeking applicants for a Licensed Sewer Operator this is a salary position that is negotiated by the board and depends on experience level and training needs, with the opportunity for advancement and income growth with additional paid training. Benefits include clothing allowance, health insurance stipend, vacation, sick time, the ability to earn comp time, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Membership. The Sewer Operator reports directly to the councilman. This is a full-time position.

Essential Functions

- able to work independently and in a team environment

-after-hours emergency repairs and calls as needed

-input on the yearly budget

-knowledge of heavy equipment, general mechanical, and construction skills

-reading and changing water meters, fix water leaks, flushing hydrants, and completing all IEPA required testing and reporting.

-working in and around raw sewage blockages

-checking lift station

-maintaining manholes, and will be responsible for all reporting and testing required by IEPA

Shift
Monday – Friday 7am to 4pm
*May include weekend scheduling; on-call, emergency call duty

Skills

• Ability to read meters, charts and gauges and accurately maintain records of plant operations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform mathematical equations to determine chemical doses required for flow rates and proper treatment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers and commissioners.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
