Position Title: Well Mechanic 1

Reports to: Owner & Chief Mechanic Pay Range: $20-$25/hr.

Summary of position:

Entry Level mechanic whose primary job is to assist more experienced mechanics gather supplies for upcoming projects and perform work in the field to install, service and repair water well related systems while gaining the experience in order to move to the Well Mechanic 2 position.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with well pump repair, replacement and maintenance operations.
• Assist with pressure tank installation, service and repair.
• Assist with well workover operations to include plugging, cleaning, perforating, fishing and diagnostic work.
• Act independently to get job supplies in a safe manner.
• Must be able to legally operate a vehicle in a safe manner, change oil in vehicle, access and egress driver’s seat unassisted, read and understand maps and remain alert for a continuous period of time while driving.
• Must completely understand and be able to teach others the relationship between well production, pump performance, pressure tank capacity and pump control logic.
• Must show a clear pattern of learning for mistakes to avoid future reoccurrence of a certain type of mishap to include, near misses, accidents, misconduct and drawing false conclusions

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Skills, experience and education required:

• Must posses a valid class A, B or C driver’s license.
• Must be able to communicate clearly in English in both noisy and low visibility environments.
• Must be willing and able to learn how to operate a pump hoist, skid steer, forklift, excavator, backhoe and any other equipment commonly used on jobs.
• Self-starter with a willingness to learn and ability to complete tasks independently.
• Must be able to enter data into a computerized database.
• Must be able to read and write the English language clearly.

Physical Requirements:

• The physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds in awkward positions and periodically lift 100 pounds.
• Must be able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms, ladders or rig floors.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
• Personal protective equipment must be able to be worn every day.
• Position requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time with large amounts of bending, stooping, climbing and kneeling.
• Pass a drug test at any time, this includes screening for marijuana.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
