    Field Service Technician, Water Purification & Pre-Treatment Solutions

    About the Position: The Field Service Technician, Water Purification & Pre-Treatment Solutions is responsible for the onsite service of a diverse range of water solutions provided by Global Water Technology at various client locations. These solutions include, but are not limited to, water softeners, dealkalizers, reverse osmosis systems, advanced filtration, deionization, and chemical feed systems. The position has additional focus on customer relationship building, education and training, and continual water & energy improvements.

    The Field Service Technician is a mid to entry level position however relevant work experience is a plus. Candidates for the position should have a strong propensity to want to excel in a very competitive industry, within a fast-growing company, where customer retention and a desire to grow both personally and professionally is a keen desire. This position may lead to career opportunities across a myriad of disciplines including technical sales, technical support, business development, people management, technical marketing, and more.

    Summary of Duties:

    • Perform on-site technical service including equipment maintenance, service, and calibration.
    • Use monitoring equipment to test water quality to assure established standards are being met.
    • Perform water analysis and/or collects samples for preparation, labeling and shipment to designated laboratory for analysis.
    • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot chemical feed and control equipment.
    • Provide technical written and computer-generated service reports with troubleshooting recommendations, site conditions, test results, site deficiencies, and site corrections.
    • Work with clients to troubleshoot and repair system problems and make corrections.
    • Assemble and disassemble equipment – hose and pipe assembly, control valve, timers, resin re- bed, filter backwashes, filter media replacement, pump maintenance, membrane cleaning and replacement.
    • Work with PLC controls; repairs pumps, instruments, and control panels
    • Required to assist at shop facilities when necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a hands-on environment.
    • PLC experience preferred
    • Previous experience working with customers with a strong focus on providing an exceptional customer experience.
    • Previous experience in the water industry is considered an asset.
    • Previous experience in the plumbing, mechanical, or construction fields are an asset.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Proficient in computer use with a solid understanding.
    • Valid Driver's license.
    • Ability to pass drug test/screening.
    • Ability to pass background check.

    Typical Experience: 0 to 5 Years in water services or in a field of related work.

    Working Conditions: This is a field-based position. Most of the workload is performed within client facilities. This includes, but is not limited to steam boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, industrial production facilities, and health care facilities. The work is performed at an assigned client list with varied contact types, which may include some challenging client contacts.

    The position will occasionally be expected to be available outside of standard business hours to support client satisfaction via phone, email, or even on-site.

    The position involves substantial driving requirements to and from client sites. Some overnight travel may be required from time to time that could exceed the typical 8-hour shift. The amount of overnight travel will vary based on geography covered and maturity of the local market.

    Physical Requirements: This position can be physically demanding. This includes the requirement to stand for extended periods of time, occasionally wear respirators in environments that may expose you t chemicals or other fumes, and lift heavy objects on a regular basis. The position is required to move around industrial environments, carrying a portable test kit, computer, and other tools. The Technician will need to be able to carry products (e.g. chemical pails, softener salt) of up to 75 lbs.
