Wealth Management Specialist develops individualized wealth management financial plans and recommendations to help clients attain financial goals by selecting investment solutions to minimize risk and grow wealth. Uses broad knowledge of investment products to educate clients on available investment options and create planning scenarios for retirement, education savings, and other financial objectives. Being a Wealth Management Specialist keeps abreast of economic conditions and new financial products to inform and advise clients on potential enhancements to existing financial plans and create up-sell opportunities. Monitors client portfolios to ensure appropriate risk profile. Additionally, Wealth Management Specialist follows all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures. May be involved with selling or coordinating the purchase of additional financial products or services to clients. Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or equivalent. May have the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Typically reports to a manager. The Wealth Management Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Wealth Management Specialist typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

  • Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    1. Acquires new clients and assets consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
    2. Provides education on investment concepts and available products.
    3. Analyzes and develops financial planning and investment needs of clients and prospects. Consults and recommends financial strategies and products.
    4. Develops and cultivates an internal and external referral network.
    5. Maintains a strong knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies and investment products.
    6. Identifies and facilitates cross selling opportunities.
    7. Serves as a backup for other position(s) and performs other duties, as assigned. *
    8. Enhances career through work experience and continuing education. *
    9. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. *
    10. Participates and responds to examinations, audits and third party reviews. *
    11. Complies with the Information Security Program and is accountable for maintaining a high level of risk and security awareness. *
    12. Establishes a good image for the Bank by being active and visible in the community. *
    13. Attends meetings as assigned. *
    14. Develops a working knowledge of the Bank’s products and services through usage and webex attendance to provide quality customer service while building relationships and exceeding expectations. *

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities
    Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation and development of reporting staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) required; three to five years related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Language

    Above average verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    Math

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

     

    Reasoning
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Appropriate securities licenses required, Series 65 or Series 66. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to outlying branch areas, as business needs dictate.

    While performing the duties of this light physical work position, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Close up visual attention to detailed materials and effective hearing/verbal communication skills are needed.  Must make accurate visual inspection of printed and/or written materials.  Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.  Regular customer service problem solving using established variables.
