Pelican Bay Foundation is the premier luxury community in Naples, FL. One of the area’s largest exclusive enclaves, situated on more than three square miles and bordered by pristine white-sand beaches, our community offers the most diverse slate of amenities and activities anywhere in the region, and we are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our Accounting team, full-time in Naples, FL.

prepare and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information, utilizing the principles, financial rules and regulations of the Foundation. This position balances, closes and posts daily point-of-sale transactions and balances the Accounts Receivable subsidiary ledger to the general ledger; is responsible for recording all fixed asset transactions in the replacement reserve fund and the capital fund. This role faces tight deadlines at times and includes a multitude of other accounting activities and projects. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
A key element of this role is exceptional service, to meet the needs of the Foundation members and guests and fellow team members.
Requirements
Overall Responsibilities
· Balance, close and post daily Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions. Keep the POS transactions accurate and timely. Process receipts for deposit (checks and credit cards). Prepare Daily Cash Summary balancing report.
· Research and correct daily Point-of-Sale errors in Northstar. Document voids, complimentary transactions, and other unusual items and verify validity.
· Maintain digitized records of daily POS transactions.
· Research and correct any credit card chargebacks, NSF checks, or bank-returned items.
· Assist and provide training to Point-of-Sales users as necessary.
· Document reoccurring data entry errors noted and corrected with appropriate Department Head to ensure that training is offered, and employees learn to stop creating errors.
· Maintain petty cash balance in safe.
· Develop cohesive system for selling and redeeming gift certificates.
· Prepare policies and procedures on components of POS transactions: refunds, gift certificates, complimentary items, tips, etc.
· Close-out month-end charges from management.
· Balance Accounts Receivable subsidiary ledger to General Ledger.
· Prepare and mail quarterly and annual member assessment billings.
· Keep the quarterly and annual member assessment billings accurate and timely.
· Record any necessary adjustments to member assessment billings (e.g., change from annual to quarterly billing, sale of house from one member to another member, etc.).
· Correspond with members to collect outstanding assessment balances.
· Maintain additions and disposals in fixed asset accounting records.
· Maintain digitized records of fixed asset accounting records.
· Balance fixed asset subsidiary ledger to General Ledger.
· Prepare monthly journal entries to record revenue and deferred revenue for the Fitness, Wellness, Tennis, and other classes.
· Maintain reconciliations of Deferred Revenue and deposit accounts.
· Ensure financial records are in accordance with company guidelines and meet all accounting standards.
· Analyze and reconcile financial accounts related to the company.
· Provide back-up to other positions within the Accounting department.
· Assist the Director of Finance with any special projects as assigned.
Requirements
· Four-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or relevant field from an accredited institution or equivalent years of work experience.
· 5-7 years of accounting experience; within a hospitality environment is preferred
Skills
· Advanced financial accounting skills, analytical and knowledge of math functions
· Working knowledge of POS systems, Northstar preferred
· Proficient in MS Office with advanced working knowledge in Excel
· Able to prepare financial statements according with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
· Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and problem-solving skills.
· Experience assisting with preparing budgets, forecasts, implementing process improvements, documenting policies and procedures, and financial reporting
· Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
· Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
· Organized and detail oriented, ability to prioritize workload; dependable
· Displays the ability to be highly effective in a team-oriented environment and to build key relationships
