Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Welder I will contribute to metal fabrication and repairs, quality inspection, maintain safety standards, and promote a positive working environment.
     
    This is a full-time position and will report directly to the Production Supervisor.
     
    Qualifications
    • Ability to read measurements with a tape measure.
    • Ability to read blueprint designs.
    • 1 year or more of specific experience and/or training related to the essential functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and training.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    Job Duties
    • Plans details of work order procedures and gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
    • Prepares, assembles, and tacks both weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
    • Maintains, organizes, and cleans both the equipment and the work area.
    • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
    • Notifies the supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
    • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Requirements
    • Must pass a carbon steel FCAW welding test in the 1G and 2G positions, and a MIG Spray Arc welding test in the 1G position, as a required prerequisite.
    • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
    • Excellent ability to read and adhere to assignments given in a variety of forms.
    • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
    • Must pass a pre-employment company background check.
    • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • U.S. Work Authorization.
    Additional Requirements
    • Work independently and in a team.
    • Must be able to work overtime, when needed.
    • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
    • Cross-train in other departments.
    • Ability to work in hot environments, indoors.
    • Must be able to see details at close range.
    • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
    • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
    • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
    Salary and Benefits Package
    • Hourly position (Schedule: Monday-Friday, from 7:00am-5:30pm).
