Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position Summary
The Fabricator/Welder performs required operations to fabricate products according to plans and specifications. Building custom parts to meet customer specifications requires a general knowledge of all manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
General
Verify that the proper materials are provided to the customer.
Verify that materials are supplied in proper quantities and proper lengths.
Check materials to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained.
Ensure that the materials are marked with the proper mark numbers, if the mark numbers are required.
Accurately document the inspection and rework of non-conforming or rejected material using the appropriate log.
Offer solutions for problems with product or processes.
Any other assignments, duties or responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Executive Management.
Work in a team environment.
Perform other duties as needed.
Fabricator
Perform required operations to fabricate product as specified.
Shear and Brake custom parts to customer specifications.
Ability to read custom part drawing.
Understanding a bend allowances.
Welder
Weld products according to specifications.
Select materials and verify that proper alloys are used.
Ensure that welds are in accordance with accepted industry and company standards.
Modify or build specialized equipment and jigs required to fabricate specified configurations.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of fabrication and/or welding techniques and tools.
Knowledge of relative safety standards for welding and willingness to use protective clothing (Face Shields, Gloves Etc.)
High level of attention to detail.
Ability to read technical documentation and drawings including details and breakouts.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing.
Experience
2 or more years of experience as a welder/fabricator preferably in welding aluminum.
Experience using power and hand tools.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Other Requirements
Physical- This position operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses welding, fabrication and power tools.
Ability to stand for a 10-hour shift.
