Welder jobs in Peoria, IL
Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Requirements
- Minimum 12 months relevant welding experience
- Basic metallurgy knowledge
- Mechanical aptitude and basic Math
- Able to read blueprints/drawings
- Able to use basic hand and power tools
- Hand eye coordination and dexterity
- Attention to detail
Job Responsibilities
- Electric arc experience
- Experience on forklift and powered industrial equipment, a plus
- Apprenticeship, vocational training, and/or certification, a plus
- Follow standard work instructions as assigned
Machine set up - Measuring, cutting, and assembling metal products
Grinding and polishing finished products - Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Perform hands-on tasks
- Lift up to 50lbs, stand, bend, and reach
- Maintain clean and organized workspace
- Troubleshoot
- Meet production standards
- Work in a team environment
- Record-keeping and inventory documentation
- Testing and inspection of product
