Job Overview
The Natural Resources Manager conducts tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental, engineering and scientific personnel in determining potential operational and construction impacts to the natural environment. The Natural Resources Manager is responsible for successful management of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan which requires collaboration with government resource agencies and other military leadership.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Manage natural resources within Maxwell AFB and geographically separated military lands.
- Performs and manages natural resource studies, investigations and data collection efforts.
- Collects water samples from streams and lakes or water from other sources to assess pollution.
- Collects soil, silt, or mud to determine chemical composition and nature of pollutants.
- Prepares sample for testing, records data, and prepares summaries and charts for review.
- Manages the Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan in respect to mission need.
- Produces and manages flora and fauna management plans.
- May operate fixed or mobile monitoring or data collection station.
- Coordinates Section 7 and other resources agency consultations.
- Collaborates and assists installation environmental staff with other environmental management efforts as assigned.
- Produces scientific presentations and gives briefings to civilian and military leaders.
- Reviews construction plans and coordinates with engineering staff to ensure protection of wetlands, protected species, and other natural resources.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Natural Sciences Degree in fields such as Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Biology or Natural Resource Management from a University accredited in the degree Issued.
- Four (4) years of full time or practical experience in the environmental field and working with federal regulations and documents (ESA, Sikes Act, etc.).
- Intermediate skill in the use of Microsoft Office, and database programs.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
