The Arion Hotel was built in 1967 and has 106 keys and 61 Bungalows, and the Nafsika opened in 1980 and has 136 keys. Under the same ownership is a large private beach club and marina.

Nafsika is open through the year, while Arion and the bungalows operate eight months of the year. Adding to the complement of on-site F&B operations (8 Restaurants and Bars), there are also two third party restaurants on site.

About the role

Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens is looking for an Assistant Chief Steward!

What you will do

Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the Stewarding Department to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met;

long-range strategic planning for outlet operation.

• Ensure the organization and implementation of H.A.C.C.P in all kitchens, storage areas, employee dining room, waste receptacle areas, compactor room, carts, tables, and Stewarding Department equipment and machinery through constant monitoring and adherence to a vigorous cleaning schedule.
• Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, inventory control and cost control measures.
• Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
• Manage the washing of china, silver, glassware, pots, and pans and distribute to operational areas.
• Monitor and supervise the cleaning of kitchen and Stewarding Department areas.
• Provide physical maintenance of operating equipment.
• Complete performance evaluations for line and managerial staff.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of all stewards, permanent, seasonal and outsourced, to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department, maintain a qualified staff by identifying and controlling work relationships, areas of accountability and performance of personnel assigned as well as completing and conducting performance reviews.

What you bring

• Requires knowledge and the ability to operate computer equipment including word processing and spreadsheet software plus other systems (i.

e. Windows, Birch street payroll, Delphi, Avero and analysis reports etc.).

• To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments / areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.
• Must be able to obtain any required food handling and / or sanitation certifications required by local or state agencies.
• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 1-2 years experience as a Stewarding Supervisor or Manager.
