Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. JOCKEY DRIVER
FULL-TIME
Job Description: This position is at a building materials manufacturing plant that uses 45-53 ft flatbed trailers to ship & receive product. This position requires operating an Ottawa/Capacity jockey-spotter truck to move trailers around the property, backing into & pulling out of loading bays, etc. Helping with the tarping & strapping operation may be requires as needed. Experience with backing up and maneuvering trailers in and around tight spaces is preferred. This position does not currently require a CDL due to primarily working on plant property.
Work Schedule: The current normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. Overtime work may be required at times.
Compensation:
Must pass a background check, drug screen and be 18 years or older.
