Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for safely maneuvering dump trailers onsite as an inter-plant haul. transporting. Performs necessary tasks to load and unload material utilizing commercial trucks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete a daily truck log and submit reports of mileage covered at EOD
2. Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients
3. Conduct daily inspections and perform preventative maintenance on the truck/equipment
4. Comply with all DOT, state, local and in-house regulations, procedures, and rules
5. Operate truck/equipment in a safe manner at all times
6. Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery of material to assigned/approved destination
7. Clean bio-solids off truck/equipment as needed
8. Perform shop clean up, maintenance, and equipment/tools setup
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
1. Ability to backup truck/equipment
2. Ability to memorize routes
3. Ability to understand and carryout instructions
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
5. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
6. Ability to work varying shifts, overtime hours, and/or weekend duties
7. Ability to understand and follow instructions
8. Ability to operate truck/equipment in a safe manner
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
1. Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent (GED)
2. Valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) -Class A/B Preferred
3. Dump trailer experience preferred but not required
4. Safe driving record: No serious tickets or accidents in last 5 years or DWI/DUI in last 10 years

4. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.
