The Actuarial Operations Manager implements policies and procedures to guide statistical analysis and actuarial research and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a director. The Actuarial Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as an Actuarial Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
