The Alterations Specialist I reads patterns, uses measuring tools, and works with different fabrics and embellishments. Responsible for constructing, altering, repairing, or modifying garments for customers based on their specifications, needs, and preferences. Being an Alterations Specialist I completes work within deadlines to ensure altered merchandise is sewn, pressed, and checked for imperfections. Presses and finishes altered clothes and linens. In addition, Alterations Specialist I may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being an Alterations Specialist I works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as an Alterations Specialist I typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
