The Ambulatory Surgery Nursing Aide escorts patients to and from waiting and pre/post surgical areas, helps patients change into surgical gowns if needed, prepares stretchers, and assists patients with mobility, nourishment, and using restrooms post surgery as necessary. Guides and monitors patients through the pre and post outpatient surgery process. Being a Ambulatory Surgery Nursing Aide requires a high school diploma. Measures and records vital signs and other relevant information before and after surgery. In addition, Ambulatory Surgery Nursing Aide typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. Being a Ambulatory Surgery Nursing Aide works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
