Escorts patients to and from waiting and pre/post surgical areas, helps patients change into surgical gowns if needed, prepares stretchers, and assists patients with mobility, nourishment, and using restrooms post surgery as necessary. Being an Outpatient Surgery Nursing Aide measures and records vital signs and other relevant information before and after surgery. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Outpatient Surgery Nursing Aide typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. The Outpatient Surgery Nursing Aide works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
