Job Description

The Assistant Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe takes patient history and conducts visual acuity screenings. Assists with providing technical services to patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Being an Assistant Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe takes measurements and documents exam results. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. In addition, Assistant Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. May dispense contact lenses. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). Typically reports to a manager. Assistant Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.
