The Aviation Engineering Manager implements organizational policies and procedures to optimize workflow and ensure compliance with all federal regulations. Manages the design of aircraft and helicopter parts and propulsion systems to optimize aerodynamic performance and promote safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Being an Aviation Engineering Manager communicates and negotiates with supply vendors to compare quotes to reduce costs and lead time and reports findings for analysis or comparison. Facilitates innovation by remaining up to date on technology advancements for application on design improvements of aeronautical products. In addition, Aviation Engineering Manager assists with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Aviation Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as an Aviation Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
