The Certified Petroleum Geologist V analyzes the integrity of wells to determine feasibility of drilling. Studies and examines variations in rock formations and mineral samples to identify new gas and oil deposits. Being a Certified Petroleum Geologist V requires a bachelor's degree. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. In addition, Certified Petroleum Geologist V typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Being a Certified Petroleum Geologist V works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in solution or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization.
