The Chief Environmental Officer develops strategy for complying with environmental regulations and minimizing the organization's impact on air, land and water quality. Plans and directs all aspects of an organization's environmental management activities. Being a Chief Environmental Officer may represent the organization at various government and industry-wide meetings. Identifies environmental issues that may affect the organization or its employees and develops plans for corrective actions. In addition, Chief Environmental Officer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Chief Environmental Officer manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Working as a Chief Environmental Officer typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.
