The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) conducts analysis to understand the needs of nursing staff and develop systems and strategy that supports and optimizes patient care and aligns with organizational objectives. Directs and coordinates implementation, design, and maintenance of clinical nursing information systems used to improve nursing operations. Being a Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) plans the implementation, communication, and training for new technology deployments. Researches and evaluates new technologies and tools used to provide new sources of data and streamline nursing practices. In addition, Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Working as a Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.
