The Civil/Construction/Structural Engineer II reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Being a Civil/Construction/Structural Engineer II may also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. In addition, Civil/Construction/Structural Engineer II requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Being a Civil/Construction/Structural Engineer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Working as a Civil/Construction/Structural Engineer II typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience.
