The Diabetes Patient Educator collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Being a Diabetes Patient Educator typically required to be a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Requires a bachelor's degree and at least and certification as a registered nurse. In addition, Diabetes Patient Educator typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working as a Diabetes Patient Educator typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.
