Job Description

The Diesel Engine Mechanic III troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Being a Diesel Engine Mechanic III replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. In addition, Diesel Engine Mechanic III maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Diesel Engine Mechanic III works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Working as a Diesel Engine Mechanic III typically requires 3-5 years of related experience, or may need 2 years experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
