Job Description

The Director Women and Infants coordinates activities related to labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and the baby nursery. Responsible for the maternity unit and all sub-unit operations and staffing. Being a Director Women and Infants may direct community outreach programs to deliver women's health information and education. Manages the departments operating budget and measures performance using standards established by the hospital. In addition, Director Women and Infants requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires registered nurse (RN). The Director Women and Infants typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
