The Geriatric Medicine Specialist ensures proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Specializes in dealing with illness and other complications due to the aging process in the elderly. Being a Geriatric Medicine Specialist requests necessary tests, follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Treats disorders that arise due to aging such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. In addition, Geriatric Medicine Specialist requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. May report to a medical director.
