The Health Informatics Manager supervises the implementation of electronic health record (EHR) systems, bed management systems, computerized physician order entry systems, or any other relevant health information systems. Manages a team designing, implementing, maintaining, and analyzing data from clinical informatics systems. Being a Health Informatics Manager evaluates and recommends improvements to systems. Analyzes and reviews analysis of data produced by these systems to identify trends and areas for improvement and to ensure systems are functioning properly. In addition, Health Informatics Manager may provide staff training on new or updated systems. Requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Health Informatics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as a Health Informatics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.
