Job Description

The Mining Manager assists in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, and evaluating performance. Responsible for the overall management of mining projects. Being a Mining Manager recommends corrective action when problems are detected. Ensures the safety and health of mine workers. In addition, Mining Manager may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. May require certification by the MSHA. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Mining Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Working as a Mining Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.
