The Mining Operations Superintendent ensures the staff performs project research, design calculations, and records accuracy of mining activities. Supervises a staff who prepares, inspects, and works in mining projects such as underground or surface mining. Being a Mining Operations Superintendent may require certification by the MSHA. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or in a related area. In addition, Mining Operations Superintendent typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Mining Operations Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Working as a Mining Operations Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
